This is my name, from my father. He gave it to me when I was born. It just took a really long time to meet him and learn that name. He is where my writing talent comes from. This makes it more than fair, I think, that I use his name for me in my writing endeavours. I’ve always said, if I manage to get published I will need a “writing name”. Hardly anyone can say “Rosemarie Neumayer” right, let alone remember it. It turns out that I had the perfect one all along. It is my true name and makes my heart sing. “Star Oakes” is a gift from my father.
I am beyond please to announce that my very first published sci-fi short story will be released on October 31, 2026 in the anthology “One of us is a robot” from Chicken House Press. This is a Canadian publication with many of the authors in it being Canadian as well. There are 21 short stories. Mine is just one of them. I am excited to read what everyone else has come up with.
